The activities of the joint Egyptian-American training (Bright Star 2023) witnessed the implementation of one of the main stages of eliminating an armed terrorist hotspot, clearing it of terrorist elements, and returning life to normal. 19 countries are participating in the training with forces, namely Egypt, the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the Comoros, France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Malawi, Cameroon, Pakistan, and India, in addition to the participation of the Egyptian Civil Police and the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as a number of (15) countries as observers, namely Bahrain, the Emirates, Sudan, Tunisia, Oman, Hungary, Poland, Nigeria, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania, Japan, Brazil, and Australia.
The activity included members of the parachute forces of the participating countries jumping free, reconnaissance elements and military engineers overcoming obstacles and explosive devices and securing roads and assault lines. The participating Commandos forces carried out the process of securing vital buildings. The main combat groups, supported by special forces from various countries and the Egyptian civil police, stormed the terrorist outpost to clear and control it. A chemical laboratory was discovered by chemical warfare agents, and it was dealt with and the surrounding area was cleared. With the success of the operation to eliminate the terrorist elements, medical, administrative, and moral assurance elements were sent to reoperate the facilities and calmness the local population. The parachute elements carried out a friendship jump with the flags of the participating countries. During the implemented phase, it was very clear the extent to which the forces from the various participating countries reached the ability to work jointly and coordinate in full cooperation to achieve the planned training tasks at the specified times.
The implementation of the phase was attended by Major General Khaled Labib, Assistant Minister of Defense, and a number of Commanders of the Egyptian Armed Forces, a number of Commanders of the Armed Forces from various countries participating in the training and a number of military attaches.
